Scope and Contents This collection contains photographs, postcards, stereographs, and slides that document Black American residential gardens, cultural landscapes, and farms, in both urban and rural areas. Also a part of the collection are photographs and postcards of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the Southeast. These images provide details such as garden and campus design, plant choices, farming methods, and land use as well as social and economic conditions in Black communities....

This collection contains materials including personal and business histories, details of civic and cultural organizations, and scrapbooks. A typescript copy of The Southern Garden is a part of this collection as well as a scrapbook that provides insight into the growth and development of the city of the Atlanta. A scrapbook created by Louise Hastings includes information on The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. as well as other gardening clubs and societies.
